The First Mistake piqued my interest with the title. I had my conceptions about what the main character’s first mistake would be, but figured it couldn’t be that obvious. And it wasn’t! Personally, I saw connections between several characters and the title, and this was one aspect of the book that was intriguing to me.

We start by hearing the story of Alice, her past and present husband, and how she continues to struggle with the loss of her first husband. Next, we read about Beth, a young girl that falls head over heels with her boyfriend and who would do anything for him. The twists and turns as you read are surprising and keep you eagerly reading to find out what happens next!

I was interested in the story and title initially, but because really hooked when we started reading more about Beth, as I was puzzled as to how that part of the story would fit in. Sandie Jones did a great job of keeping track of details while switching the point of view of the narrator and continuing to build suspense. I definitely enjoyed this book, and recommend it!
