Like usual, I went into this book blind. I only knew that it was a domestic thriller, which is a genre that I often enjoy. Unfortunately I didn't think this one worked too well. The characters were unlikable, untrustworthy and annoying. I didn't care about or like any of them. I want characters to be real and flawed, but they also need to inspire empathy or be likable in some way. The main character, Alice, is in a position that should make her a woman that I would root for and follow with interest. I thought she was a bit idiotic... or more than a bit. I didn't find it at all believable. And her best friend Beth was even worse. She was rude, and had an ugly personality. She wasn't a good friend. I disliked her a lot. And the final part of the book was predictable and rushed, and I had already guessed how the book would end.
