I really don’t know where to start. I’m dying to really get into the details of this book but that would mean spoilers. This would make the perfect book for a book club. I’m just squealing with glee about discussing it with someone. If you love psychological thrillers, then look no further, this is the book of all books!

The beginning grabbed me right away. I was so tired from working all week and thought I would only read the first chapter. I was 60 pages in and made myself go to bed. Alice has two beautiful children and a wonderful husband that works along side her. They are up for the biggest job in designs for a company in Japan that is building a new complex. If they get this job, they will really be set. But Alice refuses to fly, leaving her husband to fly alone. Not only does she not want to leave the children but she is also afraid of flying because her first husband, Tom, was killed in a plane crash. Meanwhile, during all the fast pace of her job, she also takes care of the kids and house. Plus she has a best friend she does a lot with and also confides in.

When I first read about this book I thought it was a love triangle. But now that I’ve read it, it’s so much different. Things are not at all what they seem. And things aren’t as they appear. At first, Alice some times would seem a little much, but not as bad as I would’ve thought giving how it is set up. Normally I would stop reading but there was only one or two places I wanted to shake her. The author did an excellent job writing her character. She’s afraid of anything happening to her second husband and also her children. After all, she lost the love of her life. Now that she has a second chance, who wouldn’t be scared? It’s hard for her to trust people. The only friend she has outside work is Beth, her best friend. Beth is always honest with her and upfront. Or is she? Slowly, with the help of Beth at times, Alice discovers things that shouldn’t be. Now she isn’t sure who or what to believe. Is Beth the friend she thought she was? Things in her past and present are so unclear to her. Or maybe she is just crazy or suffering from depression like in the past.

The only negative thing to say is I’m not sure yet how I liked the ending. But it’s not enough to give less than 5 stars. I think I’m just sad there wasn’t a few more paragraphs about the ending. I’m not sure it could be done but I hope there is a second book to go with this one. However, it was not a cliffhanger.
