There's a sense of dread hanging over this book from the very first page, a sense of mystery that something terrible is about to happen and you can't quite put your finger on why. The first husband has passed in some mysterious way, the littlest daughter is being bullied in a truly horrible fashion by girls that should be too young to know anything about death, and the mother is as tense as a trampoline spring. What's going on in the shadows of this home? I can't wait to find out!
