First off, big fan of TJ Klune! Overall, I really enjoyed this story and the super hero plot line. It has family struggles, grief/loss, young love, and high school conflict. Juicy! However, the characters weren’t as developed as I’d hoped and I frankly found the main character, Nick, to be quite immature compared to his counterparts. While Nick had been through so much at such a young age, I guess I expected him to have better coping mechanisms. He often came off very reactionary, where his counterparts had more depth to their emotional responses. Bummer. But those last 2 pages really hooked me for the sequel. I’m eager to see where Nick and Seth’s stories lead and how Nova City responds to the super heroes. I think Nick’s plot line has a lot of room for growth and I’m hopeful his relationship with Seth will bring some depth to his character and plot.
