I really enjoyed this book. I love that this is a queer super hero book! This book as a very slow start to it I felt. Nick, our protagonist, is completely oblivious to everything around him, which irritated me by when it continues halfway through the novel. Maybe it's because Nick has ADHD, but it was frustrating to read.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It was fun and thought out. I am excited for the future books in this series. The characters all felt well rounded and I fell in love with all of them. I did feel like Nick's friend, Gibby, was a bit one noted (being the "angry" lesbian who abuses her friends a bit).

The book really picks up in the last 100 pages. This is where I couldn't put the book down. These pages are so good that I can (almost) figure the slow start the book had for me. It definitely made me want to know what else is going to happen in this story!

If you are looking for a queer super hero story with lovely characters and a well thought out world, The Extraordinaries is a book you should read. It has a slow start, but really picks up a the end. Nick can be a bit annoying in how clueless he is, but it's almost endearing as well. The characters are fun and complicated, and I really think this is a great start to a great series.
