I love, love, LOVE this book! I had high expectations going in and this book absolutely delivered. It is classic Klune – laugh out loud humor, feelings, an endearing cast of characters that you come to care about, all of the things that I have come to love and expect from his books.

The Extraordinaries is about Nick Bell, high school junior with ADHD who is dealing with the death of his mother and working on his relationship with his father. He is also obsessed with a local super hero named Shadow Star, writing fan fic about his hero and eventually decides to try to become an Extraordinary so they can date, which is both ridiculous and wonderful at the same time. Nick’s friends are there to support and try to ensure he doesn’t cause serious damage to himself. His relationships with his best friend Seth, the awkward realization of their dynamic evolving was done so well. Nick’s relationship with his father was another thing I really enjoyed, the both of them trying to adapt to life without a wife and a mother.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy and I think there may have been something wrong with my copy because that ending…..Very much looking forward to continuing the series, I can’t wait to see what TJ has in store for the gang!!!
