Nick may be a regular teen, but he’s dealing with some serious stuff: sexual orientation, a best friend that may be more than a friend, grief from his mother’s death, concern about his father’s dangerous job, and constant battles between the cities two superheroes (the extraordinaries). Nick’s only desire since his mom’s death is to keep his city a safe place to live. He starts to question his and the Extraordinaries place in this. ⁣

This book is so funny, so clever; I never thought I’d like a YA novel about superheroes, but it’s great! Listening to the novel is even better. I highly recommend the audio version for this read. The main character’s voice is superbly done. He really shows what it’s like to be a teen, insecurities, romances, and all. Plus an added bonus of superhero fan fiction? So much fun!⁣
