I adored this book and cannot wait for the sequel. It follows Nick, a gay teenage boy with ADHD who is in love with his city’s superhero, Shadowstar. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the story follows Nick as he discovers what it truly means to be super, and realizes that not everything is as black and white as he thought. It also explores the relationship between Nick and his father after his mother passed away. The relationship between the two was so pure, and while there were misunderstandings, Nick’s father clearly loves his son and wants the best for him. Despite Nick’s ADHD and queerness, his father tries to understand his son and accepts him no matter what. The romance was so cute and I was rooting for them the entire time! As a queer girl with ADHD, this book reminded me so much of my high school days. I can’t wait to read more of Nick’s story!
