This YA debut about a teen boy with a crush on a superhero, who writes SUPERHERO fanfic (like fanfic about real people in his town, not characters!), and who decides to try to change himself to become extraordinary as well, is so well paced and was a joy to read from start to finish.
Ok, so my brain did not pay attention and I somehow missed this was going to be a series, I was expecting a stand-alone and then that cliffhanger! I am SO EXCITED for the next book now. Like right this minute. I loved everything about this! Awkward flirting, super powers, fanfiction, "are-they-just-friends?" friends, ADHD representation, queer representation, plenty of drama and suspense, and a good Dad in a YA novel - I'm completely hooked.
If you loved Renegades, Spoiler Alert, and Carry On - pick this up. Even if you didn't, pick this up - it's sweet, action-y, and oh so much fun.
