This book is absolutely amazing, adorable, and so very gay.

I won an arc of this novel through BookishFirst and I enjoyed every single moment of it. It was funny, it was relatable, but it also was very nostalgic. As someone who wrote fanfiction throughout the entirety of high school, this book reminded me why I loved writing fanfic, and what the power of friends (when engaging in fanfic) can do to an idea. It also helped that this is a superhero story, and I have always had a deep love of superheroes.

Without giving away any spoilers, I think the best part of the whole book was definitely the snippets of the fanfic that are peppered in throughout the entire book. There is one bit (early on) where a comment on the fanfic accuses Nate, as ShadowStar744, of making up the plot of the fanfic as he goes along and then saying they don't know if they can continue reading a fic that is so obviously being painted. This, along with all the other details about fanfic (from both the readers perspective via comments, and the perspective we get through Nick writing it), provides one of the most relatable and understanding portrayals of that facet of nerd culture.

If you want a fun, gay, nerdy novel to make life in these difficult times better, I would highly recommend picking up this novel!
