I found the beginning a bit confusing, so it took a minute to figure out what’s going on.
Nick is writing fan fiction. He has to be careful how graphic his writing gets because he is underage and his dad is a cop. His dad seems like a good one. He’s definitely overprotective but he seems to have a good heart and he’s trying to keep his kid safe from the type of bad things he sees in his job.
Here’s what I didn’t realize before starting this excerpt; the superhero seems to be real. Nick isn’t writing fan fiction about a comic book character, I think he’s writing it about someone who actually exists within this story’s world.
