The End of the Ocean is a sobering look at what we might be headed towards if we continue on the path we started down. This book flips between two viewpoints, that of Signe and that of David. One is in the past and often contains memories from Signe's childhood and young adult years which tell us how she became the way she was now and why she is stealing the ice to send a message to Magnus. Her travels with the ice end up connecting to David's story in the future where there is a terrible drought through much of the world and how he and Lou come across a boat, far from the ocean.

While this is a sad story because of the loss of loved ones due to the drought and choices made, there is also hope and I ended up liking this book. I really hope the climate doesn't get this bad though.
