I really really wanted to love this book. The synopsis caught me, and the cover is simply stunning. When I started this book, I felt like I simply could not get into the plot. I kept likening this book to After the Flood by Kassandra Montag, a book that I absolutely loved. In my eyes, the story that Maja Lunde created was so similar to After the Flood that I couldn't really appreciate The End of the Ocean as much. Perhaps if After the Flood wasn't already one of my top reads of 2019, and if I didn't have any preconceived notions, I would have liked this book more.
In this situation, I think this might have been a case of me judging the book by its cover (because it's gorgeous)... and it looks like my mind didn't agree with my eyes.
