In 2017, we meet Signe, an older woman who is concerned with an industry causing damage to the glaciers in her hometown in Norway. In 2041, we meet David who is a climate change refugee. David and his young daughter, Lou, fled a devastating fire and lost contact with his wife and son. The novel describes David and Lou's time in a refugee camp and Signe's journey on the ocean in her beloved boat, Blue.
This novel is incredibly powerful and a reminder of the devastating effects that climate change will have if we do not take action soon. It is also a novel full of hope, as Lou and David never give up hope that the rain will return.
