The End of The Ocean is a a painfully beautiful story of two different journeys that are absolutely realistic in our lifetime. While David and Lou try to make the most of their remaining time, knowing it may not be much, they face struggles that are unique to their fire ravaged world, but also some that any father and daughter would face. Signe’s story was full of interesting and realistic characters, but she seems to start as a self-righteous and arrogant character and end as one too. I was disappointed to see the lack of growth for her and it made finishing her story difficult for me.
The two plot lines never reached a real climax or conclusion for me, but sometimes just reading for the journey can be entertaining too, especially with problems that our world is facing in real time. Overall the writing flowed well with fast paced, short chapters. I would recommend this as a leisure read, but be prepared to face some strong characters you may not agree with.
