I devoured this book, just like the deadly flies within it. The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold is a dystopian, YA story that has surprising depth, and a strong female lead. Nico is a smart, persistent, brave young woman and following her story in disjointed timelines was fascinating. I love her relationship with her father, her dog, Kit and Lennon.

The Electric Kingdom would make a great tv miniseries. I also love the cover art, makes you want to pick it up and read to find out what the black hole is all about.

If you enjoy dystopian YA, you will enjoy this book. I especially loved the scene in an abandoned bookstore. Just imagine finding an abandoned, intact bookstore in dystopian NH?! This is every readers dream.

The story is filled with thought-provoking alternating timelines, brave characters, deep friendship, family, and a loyal dog, I really enjoyed it.
