Set in the near-distant future, THE ELECTRIC KINGDOM is a magnificent post-apocalyptic novel with a deadly “fly flu” at its center and a fascinating time travel twist.
I know it sounds like there’s a lot going on but Arnold skillfully weaves together the threads of each storyline and it all unfolds beautifully. Everything clicks into place at exactly the right time and the unpredictability along the way is thrilling. The writing is absolutely gorgeous—poetic, emotional and enchanting. I adored the heroine and the tender relationships between all of the characters. Everyone loved, understood, and looked out for one another in this unsure, chaotic world of theirs. Arnold really brought this tale to life and I’d love to see it on the big (or little) screen. This is a magnificent story full of love, survival, grief and fate. I loved it.
