At first I wasn’t sure about this book, but the concept was so intriguing and unique I had to pick it up. At first the writing especially when describing the cloning process was a bit too technical but just a bit too much for someone with a non-scientific background. Even some of the non cloning language seemed overly technical for no reason. I didn’t particularly love any of the main characters - Evelyn, the narrator; Martine the cloned wife; or Seyed the lab assistant. By the end of the book, I still had many questions. I was dying to know how Martine was able to be fertile and conceive a baby, but this was never explained. Additionally I never understood the relationship with the father- what exactly was so terrible about him and his behavior that led the child Evelyn and her mother learn to creep around the house silently to do undiscovered? Never fully answered. The morality and ethics of cloning are touched on barely but I would have liked to see this aspect more fully developed as well.
