Evelyn Caldwell is an award-winning scientist and has devoted her life to creating genetic replicas. Evelyn’s world comes crashing down after her husband steals her research and creates a new and “improved” version of her. Evelyn is still licking her wounds when she discovers what should be impossible—the clone, Martine, is pregnant. Evelyn’s emotions get the best of her and she lashes out at Martine, who takes Evelyn’s words to heart and Nathan ends up dead. The unlikely pair must come together to put things right again.

I tore through THE ECHO WIFE in one night. Gailey’s writing is intense and kept me on my toes. Evelyn was such an interesting character—brilliant, brusque and her own worst enemy. Martine was equally captivating and contradicted everything Evelyn thought she knew about clones. The fascinating premise is what drew me in and it was clearly well researched. Gailey has crafted a sharp, emotional story about betrayal, friendship and the science and ethics of cloning. This is my first novel by Gailey but it won’t be my last.
