The premise of The Echo Wife drew me in and I could not wait to read this book. Evelyn Caldwell, a scientist studying cloning, learns that her husband wants a divorce because he is no longer in love with her. What makes this all to common theme unique is the her husband has successfully used Evelyn's research to create and to marry a clone of her, Martine. When Martine ends up murdering Nathan in order to protect Evelyn teams up with Martine in order to protect her research and prevent her lab from being shut down.

While the plot was interesting I had trouble connecting with the characters. I found Evelyn's internal thoughts to be somewhat distractive from the overall storytelling. Unfortunately, the book also wasn't as fast paced as I expected and the plot holes also detracted from the overall storyline. I also felt that the ending was implausible and simplified.

Overall, I was glad to have read this book because it did make me pause and think about the science and what this type of technology could mean. Despite my three start rating I do still recommend for people who enjoy reading science fiction novels.
