This is a science fiction story mixed in with some compelling drama. The main character, Dr. Evelyn Caldwell, is incredibly intelligent, charming, and relatable. I admire how despite her advanced knowledge, she still talks and acts in a very casual manner. I thought her reasoning to not express any sort of animosity towards Nathan to be very logical and something that I, too, would have considered. I admire her strong will and some of her internal monologues to be amusing. I also like how Lorna and Seyed both act in a way that seems very real and genuine like I could actually see myself meeting these people in real life. The fact that she was very anxious about the award ceremony and extremely conscious of all of her actions made me find her instantly relatable. The writing style is very easy to read. Though there is a lot of scientific vocabulary throughout the story, you are still able to garner the main point. The pacing flows well; it doesn't feel like the story is going too slow or too fast.
