I wasn't expecting the time travel element which I enjoyed. I liked going back and getting a glimpse into the early 2000's. I really liked the older characters and how the book focuses on relationships within a family. It was a really fast paced book and kept my attention. The idea of what would you sacrifice for the ones you love was a great moral question. My only issue with it was that I didn't connect with any of the characters on an emotional level. I was never sad when they were sad or happy when they were happy. So while I enjoyed the stoty and would definitley recommend people read it, it isn't one that will stick with me in the long run. I'm glad I went into not knowing anytthing about it though because that added to my enjoyment.
