This book is already makes me want more than this excerpt! I enjoy reading books by this author as she always pulls me into the story immediately. Living in North Carolina, I feel the atmosphere in her writing, especially as I’m quite familiar with Chapel Hill where this book begins. I’m anxious to see how this story develops with these characters. Carly seems to be an enjoyable character who is engaged to be married after college graduation from UNC. She is training at the hospital when she meets her first psych patient who is on suicide watch. The two hit it off and she is able to make him laugh and follow instructions for his medical care. There’s something unique about this patient, Hunter, as he sings along to a brand new song that is being aired on the radio for the first time ever! Carly is amazed at this because it’s 1965 and it’s the Beatles!
