I liked this book a lot and have already told friends that they should read it. This book covers every emotion - fun, excitement, love, sorrow, loss, starting over, moving on. On page 6, when I first suspected that this book might require some suspension of belief (I hate to say what scientific advancement comes into play in case that's a spoiler for some people), I wondered if I was going to enjoy this book as much as I thought when I had read some preview chapters. The answer is yes- and then some. The Dream Daughter is thoroughly enjoyable, and I also like the fact that just about the time that a reader thinks she has the plot figured out, something changes, with an explanation that makes perfect sense (when considering the scientific advance that makes the whole story possible.) The books is well researched with all sorts of enjoyable trivia, cultural events, and historical references scattered among the heart warming and heart breaking experience of the main character, Caroline/"Carly." I found myself wondering what I would do in Carly's various situations, and like the character, I am able to look back on American history with an new perspective for the information that has been uncovered since the 1960's and 70's. I believe that book clubs will find plenty of topics to discuss while enjoying an entertaining story at the same time. As I approached the end of the book, I simply had to know the outcome and did a rare sit-up-late-and-read. Even if someone thinks he/she does not like time travel, this book is recommended since each plot detail simply seems real and possible.
