I've been wanting to read a book by Diane Chamberlain for awhile now so I was thrilled when my copy arrived in the mail. I went into this one blind as I couldn't remember the synopsis and lately I have found I enjoy books more when I just start reading without any background info. So I'll admit I was caught off guard the story had science fiction elements. That's not a genre I normally read but in this case the plot was fairly easy to understand as the main focus was what a mother was willing to do for her unborn child.

Despite the fact I am not a parent, it really wasn't difficult to understand the lengths the main character, Carly Sears, was willing to go to in order to protect her child. This book is full of heartbreaking and touching moments. I will admit I do have some mixed feelings about how everything was wrapped up in the end but that goes into spoiler territory so I will just keep that to myself other than to say I bet I'm in the minority with my opinions. I think this is a book most people will love and I definitely recommend it and look forward to reading other books by the author.

I won a free copy of this book in a giveaway but was under no obligation to post a review. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
