I am a fan of Diane Chamberlain's writing so I was excited to read this book. I immediately became engrossed in the story - a mother learns that her baby has a heart defect and very limited chances of survival in 1970. The story is based on the mother's overwhelming sense of hope and the power of her love for her child.
Once the story turned to seeking out the mother's brother-in-law to time travel in order to save the baby's life, I began to lose interest. The story turned too sci-fi for my taste and I had a lot of difficulty getting further invested in what was going to be a wonderful tale of family heartbreak.
This was not my favorite Chamberlain book due to the unrealistic events - this was a total switch from her typical writing, so I encourage anyone to read some of her other books if you did not enjoy this one!
