The Dream Daughter is a touching story about a mother's love for her child and how far she is willing to go for her child. Diane Chamberlain does a good job of conveying Carly's emotional and mental state throughout her unusual journey through time to save her baby. However, while the book starts off alternating between Carly and Hunter's perspectives, it soon begins to lose any potential for depth in Hunter's story. It seemed a waste for Hunter's role to be reduced into just worrying about Carly. I was so curious about Temporal Solutions and its purpose, but the time travel aspect serves only as the method by which Carly is able to attempt to save her baby. In addition, the way that time travel worked in The Dream Daughter seemed questionable to me and I didn't find it entirely believable. Ultimately, The Dream Daughter is a strong tale of a mother's emotional journey to save her baby, but falls short in other aspects.
