Poor Premise

The excerpt left me aghast at lack of knowledge or integrity of the author regarding healthcare ethics and confidentiality. I worked in a hospital for 40+ years in management positions directly involved with patient rights and what Caroline was proposing would have gotten an employee fired, whether it occurred today or 40 years ago. Not only was she considering violating a patient’s confidentiality/privacy (which has always been mandatory: HIPAA just put a new name to it and made it more specific), but she was also becoming personal with the patient and bringing her sister into it. I can’t support this premise and caution readers to carefully consider this.
