Not what I expected

This book was not what I expected, not necessarily in a bad way. When I first picked it up and read the first fifty pages I was disappointed because I was under the impression it was a story about different historical figures coming back from the dead to join a dinner party. However, once I got over the mild disappointment of the initial plot I enjoyed the story at hand, which threw a few surprising curveballs at the reader. Ultimately, it was sloe in parts especially during the on again/off again cycle of Sabrina and Tobias’s relationship. Despite that the ending was truly bittersweet and concluded nicely. I'm not certain if others would agree but I would classify this book as magical realism, which is one of my favorite genres. I think most people will like this story, but it's definitely not everybody’s cup of tea.
