A quick read with a deceptively simple premise that hides a heart wrenching complexity that left me in tears for the last few chapters. Sabrina gets to invite 5 people to dinner. She ends up with her friend Jessica, a romantic interest Tobias, Audrey Hepburn, because what idealistic cliche hasn't put her on the list at some point, a previous male role model professor, and and the man who should have been her actual father figure. As the clock ticks closer to midnight the dual timeline reveals whats really going on between the characters at the table, ranging from forgiveness for the natural growing distance of friendships and the grace to move past the deep betrayals of family addictions and secrets. This was a humbling and wonderfully moving story, if one that many will find ultimately unsatisfying. I loved it for the entire picture it presented and not just its ultimate destination.
