The setting of The Dinner List is a surreal space that could either be an illusion, magic, or a dream in all honesty but I actually really liked that everyone is aware that this is not a normal dinner. I was expecting there to be like a 3rd wall that couldn't be breached but it doesn't exist. Everyone realizes some special magic is happening and that it has a time limit and that helped make it feel more real for me.

Sabrina and Tobias' relationship hit more than a few buttons for me and I'm not sure if that made me enjoy the book more or like it a bit less honestly... This uncertainty is pretty much why I'm giving it four stars.

But overall this was beautifully written. It's heartwarming, has a good mix of humor and drama and had me creating my own list of people I'd invite to my own dinner like this. It's definitely a concept that gets you thinking.
