Magical realism with a dash of Audrey Hepburn!

Things I Loved: Audrey Hepburn. An actual reenactment of a “if you could have dinner with five people, dead or alive” dinner. A consuming love story. Friendship. Reconnecting families.

The Dinner List read was a bit of a slow burn for me; it takes you some time to figure out all the characters and their relationship to Sabrina, the main character. Chapters go back and forth between the actual dinner party, which everyone things will magically end at midnight, so they are quickly trying to find resolution with the main character, and the love story between Sabrina and Tobias, which we know doesn’t end well somehow. It was a delightful mix of magical realism and contemporary romance, but one worth exploring. {4/5 stars}
