This is an example of magical realism that didn’t really work for me. I liked it ok, but it didn’t deliver quite what I was expecting.

I can appreciate that the author made the relationship between Sabrina and Tobias more realistic instead of a fairytale, everything is perfect kind of romance. The problem I had was that I didn’t find either of them very likeable, so I had a hard time being invested in their story. It’s hard for me to care about a story, when I don’t like the characters. It was also a little too realistic for me to believe in the magical realism aspect of the story. If that makes sense.

Overall I liked it, but I don’t think it’s a story that’s going to stick with me.
