The dinner list...🍽📜

Who has not been asked the question if you could have a "get-together" of sorts with "x" number of people, no matter if they are living or deceased who would you choose? Why?Everyone must have thought of this at some point or another, no? I know I surely have! Sometimes the ones that you choose are loved ones that you miss dearly, or rather people that you have parted ways with and wished that you hadn't, could be a person who helped mold you into who you are today, or even someone that you idolize or a celebrity crush. The answers surely will change as you go through trials and tribulations of life, as did Sabrina's list.

The five people that she has chosen to attend as her dinner guests all play a crucial part in the plot of the story. While Tobias and Robert are the main characters that Sabby needs to make peace with, her best friend Jessica, Professor Conrad and Audrey Hepburn all play a supporting role to get her where she needs to be, mentally. She needs to be at peace, she needs closure. Most importantly she needs to forgive herself, Tobias & Robert.

I absolutely love how this book was written back and forth between past & present. Her words have been carefully crafted to leave an impact on the reader, such as blatantly saying that if two people are unhappy you can't blame only the one who walks out that door, it's a technicality, and compares love to a Jenga game wondering why anyone keeps playing when they know the end may come crashing down! She also does a great job going back and forth between times, I'd be so wrapped up writing the background that I'd forget that they were eating dinner.

Learning about Audrey Hepburn was interesting as well, I had no clue that she was malnourished as a child and lived through WWII in Germany. This book makes me want to research into her life a bit more.

At 940 pm, page 131 my heart broke. Chapter 26, page 267 my heart broke once more. I'll never think of the word " tired" as the same again. So much depth to that answer.

I will take two very important details from this novel: if you're going to have a dinner party when it comes time to invite your guests, do think of how they will get along with one another and not just you...and I'm definitely a flower & my boyfriend is the gardener :)

Ps-- did anyone notice they ate for 4.5 hours 😂😂

Well done Rebecca Serle, I hope to see many more books to come!
