The Dinner List served me much more than I expected of it. I had thought that it would be a light amusing read. Instead I found it a well written rather thought provoking story. Many of us, if not all of us, have a story of a lost love, problematic business unresolved with a departed relative, or a wish to see again a person who played an important part in our history. Throw in an admired celebrity for good measure and let us see who to invite to our own dinner party given the chance? To imagine naming the five people that you would choose to invite could be an interesting party game to play in your own imagination. I don’t know if this novel is a debut for this author. If it is, it is a fine one and I hope it will be widely read and successful.
