For a first book by this author she tells an interesting story. It combines the theory of if having a dinner party of guest you would choose who would you invite with the true life story of the main character. The setting is mostly east cost. The story involves a long term relationship which never quite makes it to marriage. The work desires of the couple interferes with this goal, how they see life and their interest in how to move forward. It twists by having a dead father appear at the dinner and give the main character a chance to say as a abandoned child "why didn't you try harder?" The Audrey Hepburn introduction is a stretch and I think the author down played how strong a woman she was and she tends to be background art in this book.
