This book could have been so, so good. A story about what happens when Audrey Hepburn and other key people from a girl's past show up together at her birthday dinner? Yes, please!

That said, it fell short for me. It was the caliber of the writing, especially the dialogue. It just felt too much like a writing exercise and not enough like a fully formed novel. I wished that the characters were given more nuance and not just kept to shallow platitudes. With Audrey Hepburn as a character, you really want to see the author assume her voice boldly and confidently; in this case, it was too tentative.

There was a romantic subplot that didn't particularly hold my interest. All in all, I'd say that this book was missable but certainly a cool concept.
