I quite loved this book. Not quite as predictable as I thought it would be and a great example of modern magical realism. The plot centers around a girl who actually gets to have a dinner with the 5 people, dead or alive, she would chose on a hypothetical list. She has a couple of interesting choices, celebrities and old friends. All in all, a very poignant and thought-provoking book that I read in one flight.

The real magic for me is how the magical realism is portrayed. It’s a lot more that traditional South American authors would go for, but very reminiscent of their style as well. Everything is taken at face value, which make for some interesting reads. I haven’t read nearly enough modern magical fiction, but this book really got it right!
