This book about a dinner party was downright yummy, if you can use this to describe a story.
Five people and the main character spend the evening at a dinner party. Some are dead, some alive, some strangers, some friends. Sabrina chooses her 30th bday for the dinner party and invites her father, her fiance, her best friend, her favorite college professor and Audrey Hepburn. Most of them have never met one another and get to know each other as Sabrina's story unfolds. The two main topics of conversation are her relationship with her father and her relationship with her fiance. Underlying is the tension between and her and the best friend.
The story unfolds and as we get to dessert, and the stories wrap up, the ending is as sweet satisfying as a lemon pie, with a little bit of tart mixed in.
The book will make you think about which five people you would choose if you had the same opportunity. It will make you think about giving people second chances. It will show you that most stories have two sides. And it will remind you that for everything there is a season - all relationships are important to us, but not all are meant to last a lifetime.
