From reading the synopsis of this book it instantly had gripped me! Who would not be intrigued by water dwelling creatures who are descendants of African Slave Owners. The concept of having an underground colony is instantly gripping! This books writing is very poetically written that I adore. I feel the writing is perfect for a short story read. If gives you that perfect amount of information and thought that leaves you feeling complete. The writing style fits perfecting with the beautiful simple cover art. This book is a very impactful read that is coming to terms with slavery and having to move past it. There is a sense of internal peace by the end of this book. This book reads like an ancient folklore that has been around. I’ve heard amazing things about the audiobook version. This is a book I would read over and over again! Absolutely beautiful!
