I thought the concept behind "The Deep" sounded very familiar to "The Giver." Both are about societies that reap the benefits of not having painful memories while one single person is forced to suffer all the pain and hold on to all the memories for everyone else. It seems like it could be a really interesting read. I would be interested in finding out how the Wajinru came to exist and how the human foremothers became these hypersensitive sea creatures. I thought the cover was striking and compelling.
