For any fans of Bridgerton, be sure to check out this book filled with drama and romance. The story follows four young African American women in 1910 Chicago as they attempt to find their place in life and secure their love interests. I think the book has a lot of messages about what life was like for African American people during this time period, and some of the themes were more prominent than romance. This book is great if you like reading about young women getting to know themselves and finding their place in the world. I think this book is very special for leaning into the political and social issues of the time.

I really enjoyed the ending, it seemed like a "fade into black" moment in movies as the characters decide how they are going to fix things. The future isn't completely laid out for the characters and I like that we get to imagine where life will take them. Throughout the book, I was engaged and loved following the ups and downs of these women's various relationships.
