I loved reading this book, there were so many plot twists and emotions, and connections that I just adored! Definitely one of my favorites reads in 2022!
It was really difficult for the Davenports because of the simple fact that they are a black family, and it's even more difficult for the women in the family because of the era. I loved that the characters wanted to follow their hearts and fall in love, and marry the person they fall in love with, instead of the 'normal' social standards where you would marry who your family would choose or the man with the highest social standing and reputation that proposed. This is always a favorite of mine in more historical romance books since that's exactly what I would do, marry for love, no matter what anyone else thinks.
This book also reminded me a lot of the Bridgeton series, both the show and the books (books are better lol, off topic), but I really enjoyed the similarities because I loved Bridgerton!
I loved all the different povs and all the characters!
