This was a historical romance following three Black women in the early 1900s Chicago. We get the two affluent Davenport sisters, their mix-raced maid, and a best friend whose father is running for mayor. I loved the drama of the dating season and how everyone’s matches began falling for different people. The young adult’s heart’s constantly pulled them in opposing directions than their parents desired. I wish we could’ve gotten John Davenport’s (the brother) POV, but as it stands his choices constantly bothered me. I enjoyed the format of multiple POVs and seeing how each sister was uniquely themselves. Helen easily being a favorite of mine.

I had a lot of fun with the historical timepiece and loved all the girls. I didn’t realize this was a series though and was sorely upset with how the book ended without any solid conclusions to the 4 love stories.
