Not what I was hoping for.
The Davenports was off to a rocky start for me. Something about the style of the writing just kept me from being able to suspend my disbelief. It seems like it might be a better fit for a younger Yong Adult audience (14-16?) rather than on the 17+ end.
The cover is absolutely stunning and promises meaningful stares across ball rooms and brief touches of fingers. It seems like it will tick a lot of the Pride and Prejudice vibe boxes, but it wasn't reeling me in.
I wouldn't read more to see what happens next, but I think a younger YA audience would enjoy the contemporary historical romance that will take place.
