The Davenports, by Krystal Marquis, promises to be a delightful story in a changing world. I do like stories where each chapter is about a single character's point of view. That to me gives the story depth. (Getting to know everyone)

The writing style is definitely for the YA. But, I like that too. Makes it easy to read and to just enjoy the story. Real history mixed with fictional characters done cleverly, so that the reader learns about an era of Jim Crow Laws and how the Black communities dealt with the injustice.

I'm also intrigued by the girls and how they find love and happiness. And perhaps a career of their choosing.

Love the cover and all the yellow. Plus it was fun to see in the first chapter that one of the materials that Olivia looks at and purchases is yellow silk.
