I received this book at the right time because I was completely invested in the story. I was laughing most of the time and I can't help but gush about this book. IT WAS THAT GOOD.

The story follows Evie and she makes the wrong decision by attending a club frequently visited by unregistered Luxen. Let's back up, because I have to talk about my obsession with The Lux series. I eventually stopped reading the books and I believe I stopped reading at the last book (I know, right? What the hell, Claire?).

Like the former series, Evie and Luc does remind me of Katy and Damon a bit. The difference was that, well... there's kind of a twist (a predictable one) regarding the main ship in this book. There had also been a character in here that reminded me of Dee and the "watching the protagonist sleep" (which was very much like Twilight). And then there's a Twilight (again) and Game of Thrones reference somewhere.

I mean, it's true... Evie does know nothing. Neither does Luc. And unfortunately, us readers don't know about the threat/conflict as well. It's kind of unclear why unfortunate things kept happening.

But wait, this new spin-off series was still worth the read if you enjoyed reading the Lux series. There's just something new and refreshing about this series. Luc stands on his own and he was an interesting character. Reading about him interact with characters from the former series rekindled my interest in reading Opposition (I didn't read the last book - but I will now!). Anyway, I'll give this book an extra star for the nostalgia factor but my real rating would be a 3.75/5

Now, as for the few things I didn't like so much:
1.) Predictability (specifically regarding Evie's character)
2.) Threat wasn't clear or unsolved conflict. I couldn't tell what/who is the antagonistic factor in the story.
3.) Unanswered questions. Reader has more questions than answers. Were left hanging till we get a sequel, y'all!
