Evie Dasher is a normal seventeen year old girl who lives a simple life who has experienced exactly what this world has given up in the devastating war between humans and the Luxen, the aliens. Even though she knows it is dangerous, Evie and her friend go to a club known for being one of the few places where humans and Luxen mingle. When a raid takes place, Evie encounters the mysterious and powerful Luc, whom she assumes is a Luxen as well. When she begins to understand what exactly Luc is, she falls deeper and deeper into a conspiracy that will rock her world. Her growing attraction towards Luc and his world will change everything she knew about herself, her family, and her heritage. As Evie begins to navigate her memories, or lack thereof, she realizes that everything is not as it seems on the surface.

This novel is a thrilling read. From the very first page, the author hooks the reader in and does not let go, leaving the reader wanting more. The story is fast and unpredictable with a lot of suspense. The author uses the same world created in the Lux series and creates a spinoff based on those characters. The world-building is clean and precise with a lot of detail. At the beginning the female lead, Evie, is gullible and weak but as the story continues, I could tell she is growing into a better version of herself and becoming more self-confident. Overall, this series is perfect for fans who enjoy Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series. Funny, suspenseful, and full of romance, this series will take the reader on a crazy journey.
