I am a big Jennifer L. Armentrout fan so I feel most of my reviews will be biased but I am so happy we have LUC in this series! If you have not read the Lux series yet, please don't read this series. It's a spin-off and even though JLA wrote it so you don't need to read Lux first, I really recommend you do.
Luc in the Lux series and now in The Darkest Star is to die for. I love his hard & sarcastic exterior but his gentle and undying love and warmth for Evie. He will truly do anything to protect the people he cares about. Not to mention their banter is so funny. JLA knows how to write a funny scene just as much a scene that makes you sob. She also has well-developed side characters and friendships that are realistic and charming. I want to be BFFs with all of them. I love the small character traits she throws in them that makes them feel like real people (grilled cheese and tomato soup).
The action is a bit slower in this book as JLA really loves to world and character build but if you loved Luc in the Lux series there is no doubt your love for him will be amplified in The Darkest Star. PICK IT UP!
